In June 2026, a significant milestone was achieved in Lira District as NUWEBIZ Foundation, through its role as an implementing partner of the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) Project, supported by the World Bank through the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, facilitated the establishment, registration, and election of leadership for the Women Entrepreneurs Platform (WEP).
For years, many women entrepreneurs across Lira have demonstrated remarkable creativity, determination, and resilience while building businesses in different sectors. However, many operated independently, with limited opportunities to connect, share experiences, access markets, or benefit from coordinated support systems.
The establishment of the Women Entrepreneurs Platform marks a new era of collaboration, bringing together individual entrepreneurs, women-led business groups, and trade associations under one inclusive network designed to strengthen their collective voice and economic potential.
WEP is not simply a platform; it is a bridge connecting women entrepreneurs to opportunities that can transform small businesses into sustainable enterprises. Through this network, women will have improved access to business development support, mentorship, financial literacy training, business management skills, market information, strategic partnerships, and opportunities for investment.
The formation of this platform represents a powerful shift β from isolated efforts to collective action. By working together, women entrepreneurs in Lira District can exchange knowledge, support one another, identify new business opportunities, and build stronger enterprises capable of contributing to the wider economy.
With the leadership team now in place, the Lira District Women Entrepreneurs Platform is positioned to become a key engine for advancing women-led enterprises from grassroots businesses to wider regional and national markets.
When women entrepreneurs connect, businesses grow. When women succeed, communities thrive.
